Gunnison County Emergency Operations Plan

Gunnison County Emergency Management completed the update to the Emergency Operations Plan in December 2024, and it was adopted by the Board of County Commissioners on December 17, 2024. Emergency Management would like to thank all the contributing departments and partner agencies for their work on this update.

2025 Community Wildfire Protection Plan

The Gunnison County Community Wildfire Protection Plan was completed in June 2025 and is linked below. Gunnison County Emergency Management would like to thank our partners at West Region Wildfire Council, Colorado Forest Restoration Institute, members of the Upper Gunnison Shared Stewardship Council, and JEO Consulting Group for their significant contributions!

Hazard Mitigation Plan - Updated 2026

Gunnison County has begun its Public Review Period for the County's Hazard Mitigation Plan. The Hazard Mitigation Plan identifies threats and hazards to the County, and creates an action plan to reduce long-term risk to these hazards. The plan is available for public comment until Thursday, May 28, 2026. At the end of the Public Review Period, the completed plan will be submitted to the Colorado Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management and the Federal Emergency Management Agency for final approval.
