Flood Watch – 9.16.26 to 9.17.26
A Flood Watch is in effect for the southwestern portion of Gunnison County from Wednesday, September 16 at 12:00 p.m. to midnight Thursday, September 17.
Recent heavy rainfall in southwest Colorado has led to already saturated ground. Multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms are expected Wednesday afternoon through Thursday evening, which will produce periods of heavy rainfall and potential flash
flooding.
Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. This also includes the Gold Mountain, Elk and Ferris burn scars as well as areas of steep, susceptible terrain. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
