Elk Fire

The Elk Fire is located in northern Hinsdale County, approximately a mile south of the Gunnison County line and west of Highway 149. The U.S. Forest Service - Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre, and Gunnison Forests had assigned resources to this fire, along with an incident management team. As of September 8th, the Gunnison Ranger District with the U.S. Forest Service GMUG National Forests has assumed management of the Elk Fire.
The fire has not encroached into Gunnison County, and there are NO active evacuations in Gunnison County for this fire.
