Air Quality Alert: 7.4.26–7.5.26

An Air Quality Health Advisory continues for Gunnison County for today, July 4, through 9:00 a.m. tomorrow, July 5. The fires in Utah and western Colorado continue to burn, transporting smoke into our area and affecting air quality.

PUBLIC HEALTH RECOMMENDATIONS:

-Consider limiting outdoor activity when moderate to heavy smoke is present.

-This may affect persons who have a medical condition that makes them sensitive to smoke, or who are young or older adults.

-You can wear an N95 mask when outdoors to limit your exposure. If you have a heart or lung condition, check with your doctor first before using one.

TIPS TO REDUCE EXPOSURE:

-Close windows and doors in the home and use fans inside to stay cool.

-Set your home’s HVAC system and car’s air conditioning to recirculate the air inside.
